ABOUT THE TEACHERS

Angel McGinn

-Registered Nurse

-Birth and Postpartum Doula

-Certified Lactation Counselor

-Certified Childbirth Educator

I am the Founder and Owner of Embrace Birthwork, LLC a local doula service serving Portland and the surrounding areas.

I believe that childbirth matters, for everyone, every birth, every time. Giving birth is a sacred transition that is meant be a time of empowerment and growth, not something that causes us trauma we have to heal from. Having children is not something we should go into blindly with fear. It's definitely not something we are meant to do alone. Education is the first step towards feeling empowered in your birth. I want every birthing person to be embraced in support, educated on their options and empowered in becoming a parent.

Jacqueline Abbott

-Registered Dietician

-Certified Birth Doula

-Weight Inclusive Care

-Eating Disorder Specialist

-Childbirth Educator~Trainer

I have provided Childbirth Education courses for over 40 years in California, Vermont and Oregon. I have the privilege of being part of the amazing birth community in PDX, especially with Jesse Remer from MotherTree. I am grateful that I am able to circle back to a place where I can offer education and support to others who wish to become Certified Birth Educators (CBE) and doulas. I love supporting birthing families both personally as a doula and through those I teach as an educator.

Andrea Jones

-Birth and Postpartum Doula

-Certified Childbirth Educator

I am passionate about making sure birthing families are being heard and feeling supported. Childbirth education classes give me the opportunity to share my knowledge and passion in a way that provides others the ability to expand their knowledge of birth and all that it entails. I believe that when you KNOW more about the process and what could happen, it gives you the strength and confidence to ask appropriate questions and demand open conversations about your care; moving in empowerment to make decisions that affect you and your baby. I've spent the past 15 years in healthcare and recently decided to dedicate myself to helping families through their pregnancy, birth and postpartum journey. This is where I have been called. I know this is where I am needed.

Faiza Murad

-Birth Doula

-Certified Childbirth Educator

-Elementary Educator

Empowerment, knowledge, and security are all things that I cherish and that I am very passionate about. I believe every birthing person has a right to know what is happening and make decisions that align with their desires. I chose to to become a Certified Birth Educator because I believe every birthing person has a right to have the birth experience they deserve and desire. With the power of knowledge, our dreams are possible. I've worked as an elementary school teacher for 7 and more recently as a birth doula. I love discussing family bonding and helping people feel comfortable and at ease with their upcoming birthing experience.
